Public finances and the conditions for sustainable growth

This Research Programme sets out the main lines and priorities for research at the Government Institute for Economic Research (VATT) in 2009–2011. These priorities are largely determined by the challenges presented to public finances by population ageing, globalization and the requirements of sustainable development. These trends are creating intense pressure for economic and structural reform in the public sector – which in turn is creating strong demand for research that can support economic policy-making. The Research Programme is entitled Public finances and the conditions for sustainable growth.
